Shoppers in South Riverview will soon have a new place to pick up all of their grocery and household goods as Walmart Neighborhood Market is currently under construction in front of Sam’s Club on the Southwest corner of Big Bend Rd. and U.S. Hwy. 301 S.

Walmart Spokesperson Amanda Henneberg said, “We are excited to bring our Neighborhood Market store to Riverview and provide our customers there the benefits of a Walmart closer to where they live and work. Grocery is an area that customers have come to expect from Walmart because they know we can offer a broad assortment of fresh food at a low price.”

The 41,000-sq.-ft. store will employ 95 associates and is expected to open in the beginning of 2015.

Walmart Neighborhood Market offers a quick and convenient shopping experience for customers who need groceries, pharmaceuticals and general merchandise all at Walmart’s famous everyday low prices. Distinguishing features include convenient parking, less crowded aisles and quicker checkout.

Henneberg explained that Walmart Neighborhood Market stores give customers quick and easy access to a wide variety of affordable products including fresh produce, a full grocery department with a bakery and deli, a drive-thru pharmacy with $4 generic prescriptions, health and beauty supplies, select household items, plus a gas station.

“In addition to the benefits to our customers, our small format stores also benefit the communities in which they’re located by generating additional tax revenue, stimulating new investment and economic growth, and providing jobs with the opportunity to build a career,” she said.

“I think it is great,” said Riverview resident Tommy Hoffman about the new store. “It gives me another option, plus they have great prices.”

Walmart Neighborhood Markets were designed in 1998 as a smaller-footprint option for communities in need of a pharmacy, affordable fresh groceries and select household merchandise. Neighborhood Markets also give customers access to items online through Site to Store service, which makes all of the merchandise of Walmart.com available for purchase and delivered for free right to a hometown store.
