August marked the beginning of the school year. Inez Doby Elementary held their “Back to School” breakfast, a popular event that teachers, children and parents look forward to as they plan for the year and get reacquainted. This year was particularly special because Waterset by Newland Communities surprised the students and parents with over $2,000 in supplies to kick-start the Doby’s new art program.

Waterset is owned in a joint venture partnership between NORTH AMERICA SEKISUI HOUSE, LLC (NASH), the U.S. business unit and full subsidiary of SEKISUI HOUSE, LTD., Japan’s largest homebuilder and leading diversified developer, and Newland Real Estate Group, LLC, whose development business, Newland Communities, is the master developer of the community. Waterset is one of more than 30 communities the NASH-Newland partnership owns together in 11 states across the United States.

“The smiles on all of their faces were just terrific,” said Pam Parisi, regional marketing director for Newland Communities and its Waterset community. “We are more than happy to support our local schools. We think of these kids as our kids and love watching them blossom.”

When Principal Ferguson shared that Doby didn’t have a proper art department, the Waterset team decided to kick-start one with items on the Doby Wish List. Doby now has everything from paper, crayons, glue, and glitter to 10 gallons of washable paint.

“I am very pleased to know that I am part of a community that cares enough to donate greatly needed art supplies to help the children at our school,” said Michael Darpino, art teacher for Inez Doby Elementary. “Their kindness and generosity will not be forgotten and will help make a positive experience in the lives of many young learners. I cannot thank the Waterset community enough.”

Waterset by Newland Communities is a master-planned community located in Apollo Beach. Waterset features a variety of amenities that include a community pool, fitness center, FitTrail and Greenway. The Waterset information center is located in The Landing Club & Café and is open daily from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and on Sundays 12 Noon-6 p.m., along with 13 model homes priced starting from $200,000.
