South Bay Hospital Opens Cardiac Cath LabCath Lab 10/12/2014

Chamber members were treated to a special open house in October as South Bay Hospital unveiled its new cardiac cath lab. The event marked the completion of a $3 million construction project, which includes a state of the art cath lab, new radiology suite and 64-slice CT scanner and remodeled patient waiting areas.

The new cath lab assists physicians in diagnosing and treating heart conditions by using catheters instead of surgery. Patients no longer have to leave the South Shore area to receive diagnostic or interventional treatments such as coronary angiography, peripheral angiography and carotid stenting.

The cardiac cath lab is the latest addition to South Bay Hospital’s growing cardiovascular program. Earlier this year, South Bay Hospital launched a free cardiovascular screening program and last year the hospital invested $1 million in a brand new interventional suite for vascular procedures.
