The historic Tampa Theatre in downtown Tampa is bringing back the popular Family Favorites Classic Movie Series. This is an opportunity for the next generation to see some of their parents’ favorite films on the big screen.

The Tampa Theatre is also offering discounted prices for the series and hopes that this will appeal to families looking for an affordable weekend outing. Adult tickets are $10 and children ages 12 and younger are just $8.

Director of Marketing for the Tampa Theatre, Jill Witecki, said, “This is the only classic movie series for which we offer a child’s price. We want to send a message to Tampa’s parents that we hope they’ll bring the whole family out on a Sunday afternoon for the Family Favorites. While many of our summer and holiday classic offerings are family-friendly, this series is truly family-targeted.”

All shows begin at 3 p.m. and the series begins on Sunday, March 22 with a showing of the Danny DeVito directed classic Matilda. Next up on Sunday, March 29 is the Tom Hanks’ hit Big. On Sunday, April 5 take the family to see Shrek. On Sunday, April 12, catch The Goonies. On Sunday, April 19, guests can see the late Robin Williams as Peter Pan in Hook. On Sunday, April 26 see the beloved film E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. Finally, on Saturday, May 2 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 3 at 3 p.m. join others in a Sing-Along showing of the wildly popular film, Frozen.

The Tampa Theatre is located in the Franklin Mall at 711 N. Franklin St. in downtown Tampa. The Tampa Theatre was built in 1926 and is a historic landmark today. Balcony to backstage tours are offered throughout the year. The 90 minute tour is an excellent way to see a preserved example of the golden age of Movie Houses in America.

Tickets for the Family Favorites Classic Movie Series are available at the box office or on online at www.TampaTheatre.org, but note that a $2 convenience fee applies.
