SoutShoreComedyThe South Shore Music Festival is holding its first Comedy Night Fundraiser on Friday, May 1 at 6 p.m. at the Regent. This fundraiser will serve to help raise money for the festival and increase donations to local charities, such as Honor Flight of West Central Florida, Feeding America Tampa Bay, and the Haley House.

The Comedy Night features national headliner Tim Wilkins. Wilkins is a 20 year veteran stand-up comedian, T.V. and radio personality, speaker and writer, who has performed on stages around the world. Wilkins has opened for entertainment legends such as Earth, Wind and Fire, Aretha Franklin, The Righteous Brothers, Styx, Wynonna Judd, Olivia Newton John, Hall & Oates, Dennis Miller, Bob Newhart, Sinbad and many more. Wilkins prides himself on keeping his comedy clean and hilarious for every age without sacrificing the “edge” that truly makes stand-up an art. Also appearing as the night’s emcee is Brian Kleinshcmidt of Anytime Fitness and opening act Heather Campese.

President and Founder of the South Shore Music Festival Mike Self is excited about the show. “We’re trying to fundraise differently and taking a different approach. People are already talking about it,” he said.

Self is hoping to raise between $7,500 and $10,000 from the Comedy Night toward costs for the upcoming South Shore Music Festival which will take place on Saturday, November 14.

“We’re building this music festival from the ground up and that’s why these fundraisers have to be done. We’ve partnered with Rick Lindsey from Family Time Entertainment for the show,” he said.

Tickets for the Comedy Night are $35 per person or $60 per couple.  At the door, tickets will be $40 per person and $70 per couple. Tables of eight can also be reserved for $275. Ticket price includes a dinner. In addition to great entertainment there will be a silent auction, raffles, gift baskets and lottery scratch off boards. The show will take place at The Regent located at 6437 Watson Rd. in Riverview. Tickets can be purchased online at www.freshtix.com/events/comedy-night-the-regent.
