Centerpoint Church (CC) is steadily growing and has increased to a weekly attendance of 300-350 people each Sunday. Bryant Golden, lead pastor, has hired two new staff members to meet the needs of the church and its growing numbers. Chris Finchum and Jay Sanders both started their positions with CC in June.

Finchum has accepted the position of executive pastor. In this role, he will be working with volunteers and staff to fulfill the pastor’s vision and direction. He will also be preaching about 15 times per year.

“We want to really get better at recruiting and training volunteers to do ministry. Because the church is growing so fast, it’s really vital that we recruit and train volunteers. We want CC to be the greatest place to volunteer ever. We want to make it a great experience for people who are joining with us,” Finchum said.

Finchum has a desire to start a men’s ministry at CC that will help husbands and fathers lead their families. He grew up in a Christian home and accepted Jesus as his personal savior at 3-years-old. He attended Word of Life Bible Institute, but completed his Bachelor’s from Tennessee Temple University. He and his wife, Laurie, have three children: Austin, Juleah and Kate.

The Finchums served as missionaries with Word of Life from 1999-2014. They are both passionate about communicating the truth of the Bible in a relevant way to the next generation.

Jay Sanders, Next Generation Pastor, also studied at the Word of Life Bible Institute. He oversees the family ministries at CC, which accounts for those from birth through college. He has a Biblical Studies degree from Liberty University. During the summers, he leads a camp for thousands of students and travels the country to speak to students about a relationship with Jesus. He is newly married to Josefina Sanders.

There will soon be two church services at Centerpoint Church. Currently, Sunday services at CC begin at 10:30 a.m. and typically last about 75 minutes. Activities for children up through fifth grade are also held at this time. CC is located at 1801 S. Miller Rd. in Valrico. Services can be sourced by video, podcast, or iTunes and can be found under the “resource” tab at www.centerpointfl.com. For other questions, contact the church at 689-1906.
