Public Meeting Scheduled for June 29 to Discuss Location of New Fire Station in FishHawk
Hillsborough County, Fla. (June 10, 2015) – Hillsborough County has scheduled a public meeting for Monday, June 29, to discuss the site of a new fire station in the FishHawk Ranch community.
The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of Barrington Middle School, 5925 Village Center Drive, in Lithia.
The proposed site is located on the south side of FishHawk Boulevard, between Mosaic Drive and Bell Shoals Drive. In 2005, a site was originally designated for a fire station within the FishHawk Sports Complex. According to Fire Rescue officials, the proposed new site will maximize response to residents in the area, and also provides direct access to FishHawk Boulevard for Fire Rescue vehicles, something the property within the sports complex does not.
County Commissioners have approved $3.4 million in funding for design and construction of FishHawk Fire Station No. 44. The three-bay station would house a crew of five to six personnel each shift, a fire engine, and rescue unit. Fire Rescue proposes to set up a temporary station at the sports complex in 2016, while design of the permanent station gets underway.
Fire Rescue staff will be at the June 29 meeting to discuss the project and answer questions. All meeting facilities are accessible in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Additional necessary accommodations will be provided with a 48-hour notice. For more information, call Steve Valdez, Customer Engagement Division Director, at (813) 272-5275. TTY: (813) 301-7173.
