In order to support its mission, the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, announced its First Annual HCFR Foundation Golf Classic.

The tournament is scheduled for Friday, October 23 at the Summerfield Crossings Golf Club at 13050 Summerfield Blvd. in Riverview. Tournament registration is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., followed by lunch at 11 a.m., and a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

“We have several sponsorship opportunities available,” said HCFR Foundation President Ronnie Rivera. “We are looking forward to welcoming all who wish to play, become a sponsor or would like to sponsor a team of firefighters.”

The afternoon will be completed with a dinner and closing ceremony.

The HCFR Foundation provides financial assistance to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue as part of a commitment to supporting the protection of life and property.

While the event is its first, it is safe to say that since its inception in 2013, the organization and its efforts on behalf of the community have already been quite successful.

As of September 2015, HCFR Foundation’s income of more than $200,000 has been raised through grants, individual and corporate donations and in-kind (goods) donations.

Rivera said that the foundation is expected to continue to receive support until the end of the fiscal year ending Wednesday, September 30. Rivera emphasized that the funds raised during the event will continue to support the various programs, classes and community support functions such as swimming lessons, smoke alarm installation as well as CPR education initiatives and campaigns conducted throughout the county.

“The financial assistance provided by HCFR Foundation helps in areas where County funds are not available or are not adequate for the planned project or program,” Rivera said. “As the official not-for-profit of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, our mission is to promote fire and life safety in Hillsborough County, and the professional development, training, and education of members of HCFR.”
