Organizers of the Eighth Annual Winthrop Arts Festival, which will be held on Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 20 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. in Winthrop Common at Winthrop Town Center in Riverview, have issued a Call to Artists. All artists who are interested in having their fine arts considered for this juried arts show, can visit www.winthroparts.org and download an application.

Applications, along with a $35 application fee are due by Friday, January 15, 2016. Artists will be notified of their acceptance into the show by Sunday, January 31, 2016 and if accepted, a fee of $100 is due by Monday, February 15, 2016.

The Winthrop Arts Festival is presented by Winthrop Arts, Inc. This year, Winthrop Arts, Inc. became an official non-profit with 501 (c)(3) status. Kay Sullivan, president of the Winthrop Arts’ Board of Visionaries said, “Winthrop Arts seeks to establish itself as a well-recognized arts destination. We invite you to join this effort and participate in the eighth annual Winthrop Arts Festival.”

This Winthrop Arts Festival is a juried show, and it has become a recognized and eagerly awaited annual event. Artists from the local area as well as nationally have participated in years past. This year, artists who are accepted will be eligible to win monetary awards.

Bryant Martinez, the Winthrop Town Artist and member of the Winthrop Board of Visionaries said, “We have had three artists from the Winthrop Arts Festival go on to win at the Gasparilla Art Festival in Tampa. The Winthrop Town Centre is scenic and in a great location. It draws a great audience to the art festival each year.”

Katharine Sullivan-Dawes, the director of everything for Winthrop Arts said, “Now is an incredible time to be making art, as our world is becoming smaller geographically and at the same time, more culturally expansive. We are thrilled to welcome artists from near and far, as we continue to extend Winthrop Arts’ reach.”

Sponsorships will also be available at varying levels. For more information, visit www.winthroparts.org or email info@winthroparts.org or call 601-3129.
