One of the newest gyms in Brandon doesn’t require heavy lifting, cardio machines or even weights. Instead, this fitness center is about fun, exercising mind and body and interaction with others in a bright, colorful, welcoming environment called My Gym.

My Gym, now enrolling in Brandon just off of Badlands Dr. in the same plaza as the Rolling Pin Kitchen Emporium, is owned by husband and wife team Thurlowe and Corinne Russell. As parents of two children, the Russell’s wanted to give their young children an opportunity to play, learn and have fun in a safe, friendly, environment that offers a structured curriculum. They found that perfect combination with a My Gym franchise.

The couple opened the business in August and are excited to be a part of the Brandon community.

Classes at My Gym start for infants as young as 6 weeks working on flexibility, engagement and music, and classes continue up to age 13. In addition to classes, which encourage parental involvement up to 3-and-a-quarter (independent classes for older kids), it also offers special events like Parents Night Out, camps and Private Birthday Parties.

“Every birthday party is a perfectly planned celebration created especially for your child,” explained Thurlowe. “And all our birthday parties include exclusive use of the gym, two birthday specialists, age appropriate nonstop action-packed activities, games, puppets, songs and more.”

Weekly classes incorporate music, dance, games, gymnastics, sports, learning activities and more. Children gain strength, balance, coordination, agility and flexibility while developing social skills, confidence and self-esteem. The first trial class is always free.

My Gym Brandon is located at 2060 Badlands Dr. in Brandon. Call 579-6872. Visit MyGym.com/Brandon or www.facebook.com/MyGymBrandon.
