Center Place’s 32nd Annual Patron Party and Membership Drive, set for Saturday, April 16, promises to be a great family friendly, fun event. The event is once again called Paint The Town 5k, but this year, the theme is Superheroes Assemble!

Executive Director of Center Place Dawn Galia said, “Come dressed as your favorite superhero. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume.”

Paint The Town 5k is a timed race. There will be prizes and ribbons awarded for the three fastest times for men, women and children. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the race starts promptly at 8 a.m. If you are not a runner, you can still participate with the Family Fun Walk and Children’s Obstacle Course. Registration for this is at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m. Cost to enter (on or before Friday, April 15) for the 5k is $30 per person and the walk/run is $10.

Runners and walkers can register for the event at www.centerplacebrandon.org. The first 50 pre-registered runners will receive a T-shirt and goodie bag.

In addition to the run, walk and obstacle course, there will be food courtesy of Dragon Fire BBQ, entertainment by Big Beats Entertainment and art projects for the whole family. Center Place will also have a great silent auction with a “Buy-It-Now” option.

Galia said of the event, “Our members and our sponsors are important. With school funding allocated to subjects that are accountable through state testing, arts are the first things that are cut. Center Place believes that the whole community benefits from exposing young people to the world of fine art.”

Galia added, “The arts are much more than just fun ‘extra’ activities. Participation in the arts opens up children’s worlds and minds and offers them the skills they need for a bright future. The programs at Center Place, through both action and advocacy, work to embed the arts in the fabric of the community.”
