It has been 10 years since 8-year-old Zach Tucker passed away from cancer. In those 10 years his legacy has lived on in a big way through the Giving Hope Through Faith Foundation. Over these years, the foundation has provided much needed assistance to Tampa area families who were in a battle with pediatric cancer. This year excitement is building as the foundation is looking forward to celebrating an important milestone of surpassing $1 million in fundraising.

“We are very humbled by the support we have received from our community since the inception of the foundation in 2007,” noted Dirk Tucker, administrator for the foundation. “We would have never dreamed that one day we would surpass $1 million in private funding. God continues to bless the work of our foundation.”

The Foundation only needs $40,000 more to reach the million dollar mark. It is hoping this will happen with the next fundraiser, The Zach Tucker Golf Scramble.

“We would love to fill our field with 36 teams once again, just as we did the first year when Zach was with us. We are truly amazed with the outpouring of love and generosity we have experienced from the community at this event every year. Zach’s spirit surrounds us as we celebrate his memory during the scramble,” said Tucker.

The golf scramble will be held at River Hills Country Club, located at 3943 New River Hills Pkwy. in Valrico, on Friday, May 6. There will be a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Foursomes start at $500 and there are many opportunities for sponsorship and volunteers.
