EliJamesGeigerPhotographySearching for those lyrics to a song where it is relatable and touches one’s life? University of South Florida student and local resident Eliezer Nieves knows how to express these thoughts through his music. Nieves is an up-and-coming Hip Hop artist, called El G.Nie, pursuing a Bachelor’s in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations.

He is originally from Brooklyn, N.Y. and moved to Tampa when he was 10-years-old. When he was younger, El G.Nie was inspired by a CD his mother bought him for his fifth grade graduation called Chosen Few, which is a compilation album of various artists.

“There was a song on the CD I really liked called Reggaeton Latino and that is what started this musical journey,” said El G.Nie.

He has been writing and performing for the past 10 years. The main genre of music he produces is Hip Hop. He writes for other genres, such as Rock and R&B, but does not physically produce it. All of his music is based on his life experiences. El G.Nie recently released his first single called What You Need featuring Donnavin Rivera in January of this year, avaliable for purchase on iTunes.

“This single is basically for the ladies and shows my softer side,” said El G.Nie.

“One thing I can say about Eliezer is that he’s super dedicated to his work. His music is getting better every day because he’s not afraid to try new things. He’s a very humble person and I see him getting far with his music career,” said Riverview resident and fan Nikki McInnis.

He has performed at several venues locally including Pegasus Lounge, The Orpheum, Yeoman’s Cask & Lion, Sacred Grounds Coffee House, The Boba House and The Nuyorican Poets Cafe in New York City. He is available for bookings and can be reached through elgniemusic@gmail.com or Facebook.

“His songs are very easy to listen to. They have great beats that are easy to get into and jam along to. His music is very relatable; it’s something that anyone can listen to at any time,” said Brandon resident Xiomara Vargas.

Along with that, he is working on creating an Extended Play Album called Spectrum EP, which will feature Rivera and Sabrina Santos, and will consist of five songs including What You Need. Spectrum EP will be coming out soon with a release date to be announced.

“Overall, my goal is to inspire and reach out to the people who listen to my music,” said El G.Nie.
