Christian Men United (CMU) is hosting a family and men’s conference May 13-14 in Plant City and will be bringing in speakers Coach Bobby Bowden, famed coach of Florida State University, Jonathan Evans, son of Tony Evans and chaplain for the Dallas Cowboys, as well as other local speakers, popular Christian comedian Nazareth, and award-winning artist, Meredith Andrews. The theme for CMU 2016 is “UNITED!”

“We just want to hone in on people who are believers already to get them to understand that we, the ones who encompass the church, we’re the ones who are supposed to be the examples to show the people in the world love, because there’s no unity without love. We’re trying to get the men and the families on family night to understand that we have to be the epitome of what unity and love looks like so the world will know that Jesus was sent by God. This is to put all the emphasis on the son of God,” said President of CMU Carl Shack, Jr.

On Friday night from 7-10 p.m., Nazareth will entertain the crowd with his comedy routine and then speak about truth. Later, Meredith Andrews, a contemporary Christian artist and worship leader, will take the stage. She has won two Dove Awards and currently leads worship with the Vertical Church Band at Harvest Bible Chapel in Chicago.

On Saturday, May 14, the men’s conference will be held from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Youth and teens are welcome to attend. Nazareth will perform again and then the keynote speakers will follow.

CMU’s website states it is, “dedicated in helping men become the men that God created them to be so that He can receive the glory in which He deserves from their lives. Men today are surrounded by various temptations and need other Christ-led men who are full of integrity to be a part of their lives and who will speak truth to them. The Bible tells us that we are the salt and the light of the world, and at CMU we realize that it’s time for us to be distinct and be that light for other men.”

Tickets and lunch can be purchased online at www.christianmenunited.com.

The non-denominational event will be held at Plant City Church of God at 2103 Mud Lake Rd. in Plant City.

Tickets can be purchased for $10 (kids 3-9), $25 (Family Night), or $35/$45 for male youth and adult men to attend both days.
