The Village Players will present the much beloved story- It’s A Wonderful Life at the historic James McCabe Theater located at 506 5th St. in Valrico. The traditional Opening Night Dinner Theatre is sold out. Regular performances will be held on Friday, December 9 and 16 and Saturday, December 3, 10 and 17. The performance begins at 8 p.m. Two matinees will be held on Sunday, December 4 and 11 at 3 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the show.

Tickets for all shows other than opening night are $15; $13 for students, seniors and military with ID; and $12 for groups of 10 or more by advance purchase only.

It’s A Wonderful Life is based on the Christmas classic starring Jimmy Stewart as George Bailey. After George wishes he had never been born, an angel is sent to earth to make George’s wish come true. George starts to realize how many lives he has changed and impacted, and how they would be different if he was never there. This is the wonderful show featuring the famous line- “Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings.”

The Village Players’ adaptation is directed by Hal Granholm. Gail Pierce, Producer of the Village Players said, “I feel fortunate to have Hal directing this show. Hal is one of the most versatile and talented actors I have worked with, and he has a way of developing all types of amazing characters.” Pierce added, “This is an awesome show for family and friends. It is also very affordable entertainment.”

The Village Players is a non-profit community theatre that strives to not only give the community a great source of entertainment, but also to teach aspiring actors. Pierce said, “We have a lot of new faces on our stage, and they are all very talented. We strive to encourage others to come out and experience the excitement of being on stage. There is something magical about bring books, plays and characters alive and especially at Christmas which truly is a magical time of the year,” said Pierce.
