Stop Putting-A-Round-It’s time For A Cure

A fundraiser will be held at Ace Driving Range, 820 S. Kings Ave. in Brandon on Monday, March 27 from 6-10 p.m. for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (honoring 7 yr. old Vinnie, one of 30 thousand children and young adults in the US living with and fighting Cystic Fibrosis). The cost is $25 per person or $85 for a foursome. Cost is $15 for kids 10 and under. Enjoy live DJ, hole-in-one contests, silent auction and much more.

​ The BIG Purple Toilet is another fundraiser supporting efforts in the Cystic Fibrosis fight. Pay $15 to send the toilet to a friend, a neighbor, etc. The recipient then pays $15 to forward it to someone else or $30 to forward it and purchase a “plumbing” insurance policy, issued by Odiorne Insurance, to prevent the toilet from being sent back to them. Bingo At The Bridges

A Bingo to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will be held on Saturday, March 25 from 1-3 p.m at The Bridges, 11350 Bloomingdale Ave. in Riverview. The cost is $25 for eight rounds of bingo. Prizes include handbags, wallets and sunglasses (Green Boutique & Optics Soho).

There will be a 50/50 raffle and Chinese Auction. Food donated by Chick-fil-A and decorations by Party Planet. Seating is limited to 75 people. To ensure your seat, call Donelle White at 967-5757.

Riverview Garden Club

The Riverview Garden Club will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, April 12 at 10 a.m. at the Riverview Civic Center, 11020 Park Dr. in Riverview. The guest speaker will be National Day Lily Judge Linda Sample. She will discuss Growing Day Lilies in the Tampa Bay Area. First time attendance is free and parking is free. Hawthorne Hosts Parkinson’s Disease Support Group

Hawthorne Health & Rehabilitation Center hosts a monthly support group for those diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and caregivers on the third Thursday of every month. Upcoming meetings include April 20, May 18, June 15, and July 20. Physical, speech and occupational therapists will discuss treatment for issues related to balance, swallowing, talking and other skills that can be affected by Parkinson’s Disease.

Hawthorne Health & Rehabilitation Center, located at 851 W. Lumsden Rd. in Brandon, is a skilled nursing facility with inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs including speech, physical and occupational therapies. Hawthorne also hosts a dementia support group in the assisted living facility, as well as past meetings for those dealing with strokes, diabetes, low vision and other diseases.

The Parkinson’s Disease support group is free of charge and open to those who have been diagnosed with the disease, family members, caregivers and anyone with an interest in learning more about Parkinson’s. For more information or to register, call 661-8998 Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Daughters of the American Revolution Alafia River Chapter Meets Locally

The Alafia River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) meets the first Thursday evening of the month in Brandon.  DAR is a nonprofit, nonpolitical volunteer women’s service organization, whose mission is to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Any woman over 18 years old who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership.

Rehearsal Venue Change For Plant City Community Chorale

Plant City Community Chorale will begin rehearsals at a new venue on Monday, March 27. The Chorale will hold rehearsals at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church at 604 N. Valrico Rd. in Valrico.  For several years, the Chorale has rehearsed at First Presbyterian Church in Plant City, but the Chorale has grown over the years, adding more members from different areas, and Holy Innocents’ will be more centrally-located.  The Chorale hopes to attract new singers in the Valrico-Brandon area. Garage Sale Will Help Raise Funds To Support Motorcycle Safety

FL1-B of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association will be holding a garage sale on Saturday, April 8 at 2213 Ray Rd. in Valrico from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Funds are being raised in support of Motorcycle safety within the local area.
 
Spring Friends and Flea

Enjoy Spring Friends and Flea on Friday, March 31 and April 1, from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., at 2706 Ranch Rd, off Durant Rd. Admission and parking are free.
