The local mother/daughter duo of Carmen Hutchison and Linda Dorremocea are the owners of social media store, The Rustic Door Décor & More. “I consider myself adventurous, always striving for success, and never willing to take no for an answer,” Hutchison said. “I think this has helped me in life to overcome the impossible and to never give up. I am so happy to be able to pursue this dream of making The Rustic Door a reality with my daughter.”

Dorremocea wanted to be an interior designer from a very young age. “I would watch my grandmother sew and she taught me to sew clothes for my Barbies,” Dorremocea said. “I loved rearranging my bedroom, college dorm, and later homes and would give advice to friends. I love experimenting with colors, patterns, and creating a feeling of warmth and comfort to one’s home. I love the idea of bringing a creative thought to fruition and producing work that I am proud of.”

Their business provides customized services to their customers with handmade wreaths, pallet art signs, burlap door hangers, and refreshing furniture with chalk paint. “Our style influences are a combination of country charm, rustic, shabby, coastal, glam, Mediterranean, and vintage,” Dorremocea said. “Our products are a creatively induced fusion of our different personalities. Some work showcases my mother’s love of vintage and French country decor while other pieces reflect my love of rustic, country charm. We are truly a family owned business unlike other large home decor companies.” They love being able to connect with their customers on a personal level and provide customized services to suit their home decor needs at a price that is affordable.

Both Hutchison and Dorremocea hope to grow their social media business and increase their following as well. “Our hopes are to continue growing and serving our customers’ needs for their homes, while still retaining a personalized experience,” Dorremocea said. “We have some exciting ideas for this year, so stay tuned.”
