If you have a child between the ages of five and 18, who is artistic and creative and would like to try a unique summer camp, then sign them up for Summer Camp at the Art Factory (Winthrop Arts). The camp will run from June 5 until June 23. Campers can choose to attend all three or one or two weeks. Each week is $75 per camper, and there is a $35 registration fee per family.

Children will have the opportunity to spend three weeks working with professional artists.

Bryant Martinez, the Winthrop Town Artist, will lead campers in a fun week of drawing and painting during the week of June 5 to 9. Then, during the week of June 12 to 16, campers will become real artists as they assist Martinez in designing, creating and producing a large scale-public mural on the back of a building located within Winthrop Town Center.

During the week of June 19 to 23, campers will learn all about the magic of storytelling in many different forms, including creative writing. Students will collaborate to create a special performance that will be presented, along with the public art piece, at the first ever Winthrop Arts Summer Fest on Saturday, June 24 in Winthrop Common.

Martinez said, “Imagine Art Factory and summer camp coming together for a wild and fantastic extravaganza.” Martinez added, “I love art, Winthrop and all of our students. I am really looking forward to collaborating with the students on the public art piece.”

Katharine Sullivan-Dawes, Director of Everything for Winthrop Arts said, “We are thrilled to offer summer camp this year and believe that our three options are very unique. To celebrate all of the accomplishments at summer camp, we look forward to the Winthrop Arts Summer Fest and hope that the community will come and celebrate with us.”

The Art Factory, a program of Winthrop Arts, is an after-school arts program for children ages five to 18. Students are welcome to take a complimentary class at the Art Factory before signing up or registering, For more information on Summer Camp at the Art Factory or for the after school program, visit www.winthroparts.org or call 758-5161.
