It was supposed to be a Bucket List filled weekend. My mother-in-law Ada Gilmore wanted to see Cher perform live which would complete a Bucket List trip for her. So great….grab some friends and book a hotel room at the MGM National Harbor, a gorgeous new resort hotel complex just outside of Washington, D.C. that offers hotel, casino, shopping, restaurants and a 3,000 seat luxury theatre. Sounds easy…especially with direct flights and a one hour and 45 minute fly time. However, we didn’t anticipate Hurricane Irma to cripple airline travel and cause delays, panic and gas shortages. We were fortunate to fly out of Florida the Saturday morning prior to Irma hitting the state and the airport closed for business hours later.

But, we made the most of our trip and were very fortunate to have family and friends safe back home in Florida. We made it back two days later than planned but hotels, airlines and residents of the area were very kind and accommodating to us.

Fulfilling the Bucket List! Cher has still got it! In fact, I don’t think she ever lost it and sitting in Row 3 for a Cher production concert with her greatest hits, historical photos of her partner in music Sonny and amazing Bob Mackey costumes. Listening to amazing sing-alongs from an artist who can hold a plank for six minutes is absolutely a thrill.

Cher travelled between the MGM and her residency at the Park Theater at Monte Carlo in Las Vegas throughout 2017.

The MGM National Harbor casino hotel and resort is the perfect weekend destination. Inside the modern and well-appointment resort is a 24-story, 308-room resort features premier amenities and a world-class casino with over 125,000 sq. ft. of space that includes slots, table games and poker; a state-of-the-art spa and salon; an entertainment theater with flexible seating for up to 3,000; high-end branded retail including the first Sarah Jessica Parker retail shoe location, plus 50,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. This joins a popular food hall concept and stand alone restaurants from renowned local, national and international chefs.

The Theater at MGM National Harbor provides fans the opportunity to see world-class entertainment in an intimate setting. The recently opened Theater features seven VIP suites and flexible seating designs, accommodating 3,000 guests for reserved-seating events and a little more than 4,000 for general admission shows.
