On National Signing Day Riley Andrew signed with Lynn University to play soccer for the Fighting Knights.

While a majority of high school students were heading to their fourth period class at 11 a.m. on February 1, Riley Andrew headed down to the principal’s conference room to gather with family and friends and officially commit to play soccer at Lynn University in Boca Raton this coming fall.

“Right now I’m seeing some of my friends getting into different colleges and trying to decide what to do, I like that I have my future set out before me. I am really excited,” said Andrew.

Girl’s Head Soccer Coach Katie Warren was also at the scholarship signing for Andrew and said, “Riley is a wonderful representative of Durant High School. I know that she will do great at Lynn and I can’t wait to follow her soccer career in the future.”

Andrew’s relationship with the Lynn University Women’s Soccer program first started when she attended a soccer camp at the campus one summer. The Women’s Head Soccer Coach, Chip Dutchik, was her team coach during camp.

“I really liked the campus and the coach and I stayed in touch,” said Andrew. “It all worked out very well. I really have to thank my coach, my team and especially my parent’s for all the support they have given me throughout the years and helping me accomplish  my goals.”

While playing soccer, Andrew plans to major in broadcasting communications. Her big dream job is to do broadcasting for a job along the lines of the Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live.

While she is looking forward to taking the next step in her life at college, Andrew will miss being the spirit stick girl during pep rallies. “I get to run around the gym and dress up in a cape,” she said. “It’s so much fun and I’m the first girl that’s gotten to do this.”
