After a month of investigation, Hillsborough County Sheriff detectives are seeking residents help to find a suspect involved in a hit and run traffic crash that occurred last month in the area of Gibsonton Drive and U.S. Highway 3001, killing one Riverview man.

According to HCSO police report, on Thursday, April 26, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Roger Burke, 53, of Riverview was operating his 2003 Aprilla Scooter eastbound on Gibsonton Dr.

At a red light at the entrance of 10425 Gibsonton Drive, Burke was struck and thrown to the ground by an unknown vehicle, believed to be white in color. The unknown vehicle left the scene of the crash without providing any information, detectives said.

Burke was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

HCSO is asking for anyone that was in the area of Gibsonton Drive and Highway 301 at the time of the crash that may have witnessed the incident to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 247-8200.
