PLANT CITY, FL – JANUARY 28, 2013 – From daddy’s little princess to Plant City’s Royalty. Saturday, January 26, Kelsey Fry was crowned the 2013 Florida Strawberry Festival® Queen. Kelsey, her first maid Ericka Lott, and court members Madison Astin, Maddy Keene & Jamee Townsend will represent the Florida Strawberry Festival throughout the Plant City community during their reign.

 The Plant City Lions Club is the proud sponsor of the pageant and coronation ceremony, which took place in the Madonia Agricultural Show Center on the Festival grounds in Plant City. A panel of five judges, from outside the Plant City area, had the difficult task of choosing the winners from a selection of 25 contestants.

 Kelsey is the daughter of Glenn and Kendra Harrell. She is a senior at Plant City High School and is ranked in the top 5% of her graduating class with a 5.48 GPA. Kelsey is the Captain of the PCHS Varsity Swim Team, President of the Ronald McDonald Charity House Club and treasurer of the Nation Honor Society. She is also a member of the Florida Baptist Church of Plant City. Kelsey’s hobbies include participating in speech competitions, swimming competitively and spending time with family. Upon graduation, Chelsea plans to attend a university to pursue a degree in marketing.

The Florida Strawberry Festival, Plant City Lions Club, and many other local companies and organizations provide the Queen and her court with scholarships and savings bonds to help fund their college education. The five young ladies also receive trophies and sashes, wardrobes for Festival events, as well as many other gifts from local retailers.

The 2013 Florida Strawberry Festival Queen and her court will represent the Festival during its eleven day event from February 28 – March 10, 2013. However, Fry along with her court will continue to represent the Festival and Plant City during their year long reign.

The excitement of holding the title of Florida Strawberry Festival Queen and Court is overwhelming however, the fun has just begun for these five deserving young ladies. Be sure to congratulate Kelsey Fry and her court at this year’s 78th Annual Florida Strawberry Festival.
