Pests that can cause damage to your home are always a threat. Having a pest control company that can provide you the security in knowing your home is well protected is extremely important.

Ed Tekampe has always enjoyed working with and providing service to his customers. After 21 years in the pest industry working for larger corporate companies, he decided it was time to start his own locally-owned, family based, non-franchised pest control company. Together with his wife, Bonnie Tekampe, TNT Termite and Pest Control was formed, and they have recently celebrated their two year anniversary.

TNT offers both termite and pest control for both residential and commercial structures. They provide complimentary inspections and free consultations to anyone who has a question or concern about possible pest activity.  They also provide WDOs (termite inspections) for real estate transactions.

Customer Dave O’Brien of Tampa said, “We had been having problems with our current pest provider for numerous months, so finally we had TNT come out and take a look at our buildings. They were professional, thorough and the cost savings were substantial. I am recommending to all of my friends and business associates that they let TNT come out to their business and/or home and give them a quote.”

According to Ed Tekampe, this time of the year is subterranean termite swarm season.  Many people become aware of a termite problem when they find active swarming in or around their home.  It is important to note that termites can invade a home without any visible signs.

The lack of swarming doesn’t necessarily mean there are no termites. Tekampe always recommends that homes are inspected on a regular basis.  It is important to note that the only true way to prevent a termite problem in your home or business is to have it treated before you get termites.  “There is an old adage in the pest control industry; there are two types of homes in Florida, those that have had termites and those that will get termites.”  He added, “I’m sure everyone on your street has homeowner’s insurance, you wouldn’t think of being caught without it.  But if you took a survey of all your neighbors this past year, you might be surprised that more of them have had an experience with termites than other natural disasters.”

Last May, the family business expanded to include son, Andy Tekampe. Andy, an important member of the team, is learning the business from the ground up from his parents. He is currently doing services with Ed and working with Bonnie in the marketing world such as networking and expos.

“I never imagined I would ever be working for a pest control company, but I must admit it is quite exciting. Not at all what I thought it would be, I have learned more about bugs than you could ever imagine. My favorite thing about working with TNT is bonding with my Dad when we ride in the truck together,” said Andy.
