Tampa Bay posted the fourth highest foreclosure rate in February based on recent studies. As homeowners in the area continue to need assistance with their mortgages, Bank of America is deepening its commitment to its customers by reaching out to more than 4,900 customers in Tampa-St. Petersburg and surrounding areas to help them avoid foreclosure.

Bank of America customers are invited a homeowner assistance event in their respective areas from Wednesday, April 17 through Thursday, April 18. Customers will receive face-to-face assistance from Bank of America specialists who will review their financial situation to identify alternatives to foreclosure. The bank has also partnered with local non-profit Tampa Bay Community Development Corporation (CDC), to provide customers with additional financial counseling.

A National Mortgage Outreach executive can discuss the options available to homeowners today and provide information surrounding the Bank’s mortgage outreach efforts. Since January 2009, Bank of America has participated in more than 1,200 outreach events in 45 states and Washington, D.C., meeting with more than 167,000 customers. That includes 168 events in Florida providing assistance to more than 23,000 homeowners.
