The Tampa Regional Artists are pleased to present the 6th Bay Area Art Show from Tuesday, April 30 through the end of May. A reception for the artists and area residents is set for Friday, May 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

This is a juried and judged fine art show sponsored by the Tampa Regional Artists and held at the Old Hyde Park Art Center located at 705 Swann Ave. in Tampa.

Five artists from the greater Brandon area will have artwork on display. The artists include Sue Allen, Ralph Lopez, Jody MacNeil. Jim MacNeil and Sabrina Fravel.

Sue Allen lives in Lithia and is an accomplished watercolor artist. Allen said, “The Bay Area Art Show is one of our area’s more competitive exhibitions. There are artists from both sides of Tampa Bay competing for entry into the show and prizes.” Allen added, “The show is an opportunity for me to have my work shown, and it is an opportunity for the public to view and purchase artwork. We keep the prices affordable since there is no commission to pay.”

The exhibition judge is Doug Sutherland, an Art Professor at the University of Tampa. During a 20-year period as a professional artist, his work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Jacksonville and Tampa.

The 6th Bay Area Art Show is indeed a prestigious one with over $2,000 in prize money. Categories of artwork on display will include oil, acrylic, watercolor, photography, pastel and other media. All work is original artwork.

Allen said, “I love the interaction with other artists. You get to see what they are doing. For me it is like being back in art school, sharing ideas and skills.
