May is National Pet Month. In an effort to celebrate the impact that pets have on our lives, Bryant Martinez, the Winthrop Town Artist, has gathered artists together who will create art that demonstrates the impact that their adopted pet or pets has had on their lives. The art will be displayed during the First Annual Pets Art Show. The show will take place during the monthly Thursday Night Live! at the Beaux Arts Gallery in Riverview on Thursday, May 30 from 6 to 9 p.m.

The art exhibit will remain on display through mid June at the gallery.

The First Annual Pets Art Show is sponsored by Dr. Mark Woodside of Brandon Lakes Animal Hospital located in Winthrop Town Centre, Pet Supermarket on Bloomingdale and Publix in the Winthrop Town Centre. Donations will be give to the Humane Society.

There will be nine artists whose work will be featured. These include Lenny Cabanero, a local resident and teacher at Blake High School, Dawn Hunt of Tampa, Brien Hockman of Valrico, Bryant Martinez of Brandon, Susan Sahab, a USF student and Intern for the Winthrop Arts Collaborative , Nam Pham of FishHawk, Don Robinson of Brandon, Steve Muller of Apollo Beach and Abby Markov of Plant City.

According to Martinez, “Each artist has adopted a pet from the Humane Society. Their art will reflect their love of animals.”

This show is a great opportunity to meet talented artists who also happen to be pet lovers. If you are a lover or art and pets, this is a chance for you to support local artists and the Humane Society.

Attendees will be treated to light refreshments and the moving cello music of John Mark Ligone.
