On Saturday, September 28, an exciting event for writers across the area will take place: The Florida Inspirational Writer’s Retreat. Directed by published and award-winning authors Ruth Carmichael Ellinger and Debora Coty, this retreat will be a fun and encouraging event for all writers who attend.

“Local author Debora Coty and I were inspired to organize this event as an affordable writer’s workshop and conference to benefit our local community of writers. Some writers are unable to afford the costlier conferences, especially when out of area, and rooms and meals are extra. FIWR’s cost includes meals. Since it is local, no room is necessary,” explained Ellinger.

Before Saturday, August 31, registration fee is $95. The cost increases to  $115 after August 31 until Friday, September 13, which is the deadline for registration.

The retreat includes delicious meals, pleasant atmosphere, fun and challenging writing contests and many additional learning experiences. “Inspiration for FIWR was on my idea list. Debora Coty caught this inspiration and joined me as co-director. Along with our invaluable planning staff, we are working to make this retreat a local success,” Ellinger elaborated.

This workshop is held at the Cedarkirk retreat and conference center in Lithia. Speakers include Kim Moore, self-published author, Kat Heckenbach, young adult fiction writer, Cheri Cowell, faith-based speaker and author from Orlando, and Timothy Lowry from Ambassador International Publishers.

These inspirational orators will discuss topics from how to write in young adult mode, to how to breathe life into fictional characters; from how to spice up your writing with humor, to the path to self-publishing. There will also be an opportunity to sign up for ten-minute individual appointments with a representative from Ambassador International Publishers.

This event is open to all published or non-published authors, however, it is only open to 40 attendees.
