Osprey Observer advertising reps sometimes find themselves sold on their clients’ products (a pedicure or a new haircut) but Laurie Grant’s purchase takes the cake…she drove off her clients’ lot in a brand new SUV.
The mom of three was reluctant to replace her family minivan, fearing the hassle and stress of the car-buying process. She had been on the hunt for a new car for some time and when a salesperson at one dealership started talking about payments before she had decided on which car she liked, she left.
A few months later, she decided to try again. That’s when she called her client John Marazzi, the owner of Brandon Honda. He put her in touch with Sam Raabe, the general sales manager, who, she was told, would take care of her.
She had visited the dealership and taken a test drive of a Honda Pilot earlier in the year and was keen on its ability to haul all of her kids and their stuff.
When walking through the showroom to meet Raabe, she was recognized and greeted by Sean Walsh, the sales consultant who had been with her during the test drive.
“I was impressed that he had remembered me,” says Grant.
After a very short period of negotiation, which included a trade in giving her better value than a private sale would, she ended up driving off the lot in a white 2013 Honda Pilot touring edition, complete with navigation system and DVD player.
“I’m thankful that someone cared enough about my concerns and questions going in and purchasing a vehicle on my own,” she says. “The staff exceeded my expectations.”
Raabe says all customers receive the same treatment.
