The 2014 Honorary Mayor’s Race in Riverview is off to a rollicking start.  The candidates who threw their hats in the race are: Christian Beiter, Preservation 1st Financial Group, LLC, whose charity is YMCA Camp Cristina; Cliff Kennedy, Alley Cat Pest Control, whose charities are Rotary Club of FishHawk-Riverview Foundation and Honor Flight of West Central Florida; and Michelle Mosher, Great Florida Insurance South Shore, whose charities are Honor Flight of West Central Florida and Voices For Children of Tampa Bay.

It is a friendly, but intense competition as the three candidates have a long way to go and a short time to get there, as September 21 is the deadline to raise the most money for their charities and win the position.  The events planned are as follows by date:

Aug 19 – Sep 20 Kennedy for Mayor: Mentally Infested Singing Telegrams -Want a special song for someone on their special day? Cliff and Lisa Kennedy are delivering these one-of-a-kind, specially-written telegrams. Contact them to discuss details at info@alleycat pestcontrol.com or call 671-3838.

Aug 20 – Sept 17 Kennedy for Mayor: Beef O’Brady’s Gives Back – For five Tuesday nights (Aug 20 – Sept 17), Beef O’Brady’s Big Bend will donate 15% of your check to Kennedy’s campaign. Be sure to tell them “Cliff for Honorary Mayor” and they will mark your check.

Sep 04 – Mosher for Mayor: BUNCO Night – Apollo’s Bistro, 6520 Richies Way in Apollo Beach.  A fun night of BUNCO from 7-10 p.m. with a cash bar, 50/50 Raffle and prizes! Space is limited so register early!  $10 per person.  Call for tickets at 645-7616.

Sep 06 – Kennedy for Mayor: “Fight for Flight” Mock Boxing Match – Title Boxing Club of Brandon, 889 E. Bloomingdale Ave. from 7:30-9 p.m. Fundraiser “Fight for Flight” mock boxing match.  Come cheer on your favorite fighter, or be a fighter. Make a ‘wager’ on your favorite to earn money for Kennedy.

Sep 10 – College Planning Night at Camp Cristina, 9840 Balm Riverview Rd., Riverview

Christian Beiter is hosting a College Planning Night.  The cost will be $20/family.  College Funding Professors will match the $20 up to the first 50 families.  Dr. Heather Thole with WeeCare for Kids will donate $20 for the first 25 families.  Want to attend, call Beiter at 627-0872.

Sep 12 – Misters & Misses for Mosher at the Preserve at Alafia, 10110 Gibsonton Dr. in Riverview.  Fun, DJ, Magic by Teo and a cash bar are planned for this Charity Bachelor and Bachelorette Auction 6-10 p.m.  Cost is $20/individual; $35/couple. Call 645-7616 to participate. Bid on some of Riverview’s finest singles.  Plenty of raffles and a Silent Auction!

Sep 14 – Kennedy for Mayor: Show Your Stripes for Flight at Ruskin VFW, 5120 U.S. Hwy 41N.  Show your support for our military.  Patriotic and military attire encouraged.  Prize for the Best Dressed!  Also a LIVE BAND, food, drinks, raffle, 50/50, and a Silent Auction with some AMAZING items from 7-11 p.m.  Admission is free.

Sep 15 – Beiter for Mayor – Family Fun Day with Wet Willy – Camp Cristina, 9840 Balm Riverview Rd. in Riverview. Bring the family from 12:30-3:30 p.m. and for a minimal cost, there will be unlimited slides on Wet Willy, unlimited trips across the zip line and canoeing.  Enjoy hot dogs, chips, sodas and more for sale. Admission:  $10 adults/$5 kids

Sep 20 – Beiter for Mayor: Poker Tournament – 6:30-11 p.m. at Summerfield Crossings Golf Club, 13050 Summerfield Blvd. in Riverview.  Admission is $25 per entry; rebuys will be available.  Call Beiter at 325-5626.

Sep 21 – Beiter for Mayor: Rummage Sale at YMCA Camp Cristina, 9840 Balm Riverview Rd., Riverview from 7:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Donate all unwanted items in your house for this sale.  Do some shopping and eat too.  Donations being accepted NOW, call Beiter at 325-5626 for details.
