Educational Consultants Group, located at 10008 Park Place Ave. in Riverview, is a contracting rehabilitation and consulting firm started to provide services that focus on functional domains affected by speech, voice, language, swallowing  or cognitive disability—such as activities of daily living, communication, learning and academic performance, vocational performance and social interaction. Many of these aspects of rehabilitation are addressed in formal individualized therapy sessions and in the free community outreach programs offered to help participants practice the changes they are making in fun, safe and constructive environments.

Dr. Alicia Thomas brings over 15 years of experience as a provider of Medical Speech-Language Pathology, Cognitive Rehabilitation and Neurotherapy services. She has extensive experience providing evaluation, treatment and program planning for children and adults with Voice, Swallowing, Neurophysiology and Neurogenic Speech and Language Disorders. She is currently the Director of Therapy, Education and Research.

In her experience, she often found patients and clients trying to fit into the box they were diagnosed or labeled with.  She said, “I believe people are more than their diagnosis or label.” Her holistic approach to rehabilitation allows individuals to have more than one thing affecting them and offers them more than one solution to their concerns. Dr. Thomas utilizes a variety of complimentary health techniques along with traditional therapy services. She has found faster and life-changing results by utilizing biofeedback, relaxation training and microcurrent stimulation treatment with traditional therapy techniques for voice problems resulting from professional voice use, chronic reflux and Parkinson’s disease, swallowing problems, and cognitive communication problems resulting from a stroke or brain injury. She added, “I especially feel blessed to be able to work with soldiers heading to or returning from duty to help them adjust.”

The business is managed by Christopher McGill, MBA who brings over 15 years of experience in business operation and evaluation, both domestically and globally.

Its hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.  For more information, call 373-0016 or visit www.ecgcares.com.
