Pets are part of the family and giving them the best possible care is a priority for pet owners. Four Paws Veterinary Hospital in Riverview provides that tender loving care owners crave in its state-of-the art facility, specializing in integrative medicine, pet wellness, animal acupuncture, pet dental care, pet surgery and companion laser therapy. Additionally, Four Paws offers cat boarding for its clients.

A Brandon native and graduate of Brandon High School, Kimberly Tyson, DVM developed an interest in medicine and a deep love for animals as a child. She has been a practicing veterinarian for 20 years, 16 of those locally. She has a special interest in dermatology and is trained in veterinary acupuncture from the Chi Institute.

Dr. Tyson opened Four Paws Veterinary Hospital in Riverview in November 2007.

“We are client and pet focused,” stated Tyson, explaining that only two doctors are on-staff at all times so the practice is not seeing multiple pets at once and trying to rush to fit in as many appointments as possible.

Dr. Tyson’s love and dedication to animals can be seen inside and outside the office. Every last Thursday of the month, Four Paws hosts Yappy Hour, a fundraising event designed for pets and their owners with proceeds benefiting a local pet rescue. In November, there is Horsology Hour to raise funds for local horse rescues, as well as other events throughout the year.

“I particularly like to raise money for RVR Horse Rescue and CARE Animal Hospital,” she commented.

On the professional front, Dr. Tyson is an active member of the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce and is currently president-elect of the FishHawk Riverview Rotary. In 2011, Four Paws Veterinary Clinic earned the award for the Riverview Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year and in 2009 and 2010, Dr. Tyson was a finalist for Business Person of the Year.
