Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) units responded to a 2nd alarm structure fire this morning (Tuesday, April 8) at Big Bend Rd. and Summerfield Blvd. in Riverview.
According to HCFR spokesperson Ronnie Rivera about 17 units rushed to Mulligans Pub located inside the Summerfield Shoppes Plaza at 11375 Big Bend Rd. finding  heavy smoke coming from inside the pub, as well as spreading to the rest of the businesses.
“Our units did a good job stopping the fire spreading,” Rivera said.
It took about 30 minutes for firefighters to put out the flames, which they also attacked through the roof of the building where the fire was spreading.
Rivera said that fire crews are not working on any hot spots, however due to the heavy smoke, the plaza will not likely be accessible for the the next hour or two.
At this point east bound Big Bend Road  is closed at Summerfield Blvd.
