The Brandon League of Fine Arts has issued a call for artists for ARTWORKS 2014. The show is open to all area artists who wish to submit original art that has been completed since September 2011. The deadline for submission is Monday, August 4. The show is juried and judged. There is over $1,000 in prize money available.

Both traditional 2D work and 3D work in mediums such as fiber, ceramics, metal, jewelry, glass and wood are accepted. 2D work must be framed and wired for hanging. 3D work must not exceed 18″Hx10″Wx12″D and not weigh more than three pounds.

E-mail entries are preferred and should be sent to chair Sue Downes Allen at sueallenart@verizon.net.

The chosen artwork will be on display in the Mook Gallery at Center Place of Brandon during the month of September. A reception and awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, September 13 from 5:30-7 p.m.

Allen said, “This is a high level competition that brings out some the best new work by artists in our area. It will be pre-juried so we want to encourage entrants to take excellent photos of their work and to send the digital image to me. These images will be reviewed by the juror to determine the look of this year’s show. Please carefully read the rules and follow the instructions for entering and honor the strict deadline of August 4.”

ARTWORKS 2014 will once again be the highlight of a day long arts extravaganza known as The Gallery Hop. This is sponsored by the Brandon Arts Council. Attendees will not want to miss the excitement of spending the day “hopping” around the greater Brandon area looking for art treasures or the excitement of seeing the art and the artists in ARTWORKS 2014, Allen said.
