Girls With Confidence (GWC) is a program that offers workshops for young girls between the ages of 5-18 that helps them to develop strong self-esteem in a fun, creative and safe environment.  Founded by Nancy Lemon in 2011, Girls With Confidence works with thousands of girls in the Tampa Bay area focusing on topics like friendship, body image, peer pressure, leadership skills, social media, managing stress, mother and daughter relationships and much more.  The primary goal for Girls With Confidence is to teach girls to accept their uniqueness and love themselves inside and out.

Registration is now open for fall 2014 classes. There are different classes and locations available to girls. There are classes such as Girls With Friends, Girls With Leadership and Girls with Manners, offered at the Osprey Observer Small Business Center, FishHawk Ranch Aquatic Club (now open to non-members of the community), as well as after school programs at Bell Shoals Baptist Academy and Valrico Academy. GWC will also be offering classes in the Tampa area.

“With our expansion into Tampa, we are pleased to announce that we have added several talented facilitators that we can’t wait for the girls to meet. Also joining our team is a new social media intern,” said Lemon. “You can expect more social media interaction and updates, through Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.”

One big part of Girls with Confidence is Tiffany’s Fund. Tiffany was a regular with Girls With Confidence, and she passed away unexpectedly in 2013. Her legacy lives on with GWC and all donations that go into Tiffany’s Fund go toward scholarships and special events. This past July, GWC held a camp at Florida Baptist Children’s Homes in Lakeland (FBCH), a faith based non-profit that provides safe, stable Christian homes for boys and girls who have been abused and neglected. Through GWC’s Angel Network, funded by Tiffany’s Fund, this camp was able to cover topics with the children at FBCH like loving yourself and believing in yourself.

A popular Girls With Confidence event that girls can look forward to will be the Third Annual Girls Giving Back, held in December. Girls with Confidence will partner with A Kid’s Place to provide stocking stuffers and Christmas gifts to foster girls in need.
