SouthShorebandThe South Shore Music Festival & Chili Cook-Off, scheduled for Saturday, November 8, is something area residents will not want to miss as national and local country artists take the stage showcasing their talents.

Gates open at 12 Noon and the music begins at 1 p.m. It will be an afternoon filled with soulful rock, country music and blues, southern comfort food and a chili cook-off, all in a family-friendly environment.

Slated to perform is Jason Michael Carroll, who has had three Top 40 hits and opened up for Brooks & Dunn, Trace Adkins, Alan Jackson and was a featured part of Carrie Underwood and Martina McBride’s 2008 tour; Gwen Sebastian, one of The Voice’s most successful contestants; and local favorites Soul Circus Cowboys and Zebron and James, among others.

While the crowd is being entertained by the music, the festival also will offer a Mega Corn Hole Tourney at 1 p.m. Hosted by Tampa Bay Corn Hole, the tournament will feature $2,500 worth of prizes, including $1,500 cash. Participants must preregister by calling 298-3570. A chili cook-off also will be a highlight of the afternoon with $600 in prizes going to the first, second and third place winners. There are still spots open for those wanting to join the chili cook-off competition and participants must register by Friday, October 31. Concert-goers can purchase a chili sample bowl for $5 at the gate and vote on the People’s Choice winner.

“It is a great event for the whole family,” said festival organizer Mike Self, owner of S & S Taco. “The whole thing started as a feel-good festival to raise money for the community and charities. We have a number of great local businesses supporting us and as the festival continues to grow, we are able to bring in bigger national artists and raise even more money for local charities.”

Sponsorship spots are already filling up for 2015. Call 690-2201 to find out more.
