-1348858963On Saturday, October 18, the Tactical Titan Obstacle 5K will take place at the Hillsborough County Fairgrounds and is open to individuals and teams looking for a challenge. This event has 30 obstacles, incorporated in with a 5K run, and the obstacles will challenge participants with everything from wind, height, sliding and climbing.

What makes this run stand apart from the rest is that it is a mud-less run.

“We are really excited to offer an obstacle race that doesn’t include mud,” said Event Coordinator Mike Nelson. “We have been well received and look forward to a different venue here at the fairgrounds.”

The first two waves of the race will be chip timed. Those waves will begin at 8:30 and 8:50 a.m. Untimed waves will begin after that in 20 minute increments. Awards will be given out for first, second and third place based on age divisions as well as a prize for overall male and overall female.

This event is very family-friendly, and even offers a Mini-Tactical Titian Obstacle course with a 1.5 mile run for children between the ages of 6 and 12. Each participant will receive a T-shirt, medal and finisher medal. After the races are finished, there will be food vendors on site.

This is the first time that this event will be held at the Hillsborough County Fairgrounds, and it is already promising to be a good venue.

“The fairgrounds is an ideal setting for the Tactical Titan because of the amount of space there will be for the obstacles and ease of access for the participants,” said Janet Aversa, office manager for the fair. “The fairgrounds have been developed as a community resource that is meant to be used by the citizens for a variety of events.”

There are still tickets available for the race. It cost $89 to participate, but make sure to check out its Facebook page at for deals on registration. Tactical Titans works with The Youth Alliance and part of the proceeds from this event will benefit the charity. To learn more about The Youth Alliance, visit
