FishHawk residents have been eagerly awaiting the opening of the newest restaurant in Park Square located in the heart of FishHawk Ranch and owners say, this time, the new family-owned and operated BBQ restaurant is here to stay.

The Smokehouse is the dream of twin brothers and Army veterans Richard and Robert Bowe and their brother-in-law Mike Mahovlic. Each have worked in restaurants and concepts for years and have been looking for the right opportunity to own and run a restaurant together.

“We are proud to be in the heart of the FishHawk community and we are here to stay,” said Richard who runs the smoker and is proud of the menu that the Smokehouse has to offer which includes burgers, steaks and his speciality wings. “We are here to support our families and be a great community partner to our neighbors in FishHawk Ranch.”

Opening at the beginning of June, the owners couldn’t be happier with the support of the community.

“We are getting better every day,” said Robert, newly moved to the community and excited to get to know more about the area.

ParkSquarefoodAll food, including pulled pork, sausage, brisket, wings, custom-blended burgers and specialty wings including the Sweet Mango Habanera, are made daily on site and all meats are smoked for hours in a custom smoker at the restaurant.

“Our sauces are made by Florida’s own Grand Champion Competition BBQ Master Dana ‘Big Poppa’,” explained Richard.

Smokehouse sides including homemade four cheese mac & cheese and garlic mash are made in-house.

“Our goal,” said Mahovlic, “Is to serve delicious and remarkable BBQ, burgers and to be a giving member of FishHawk to improve the community dining choices for our neighbors in FishHawk.”
