Fundraising events are underway for the upcoming South Shore Music Festival, featuring Chase Bryant, scheduled for Saturday, November 14. Area residents and business owners can get involved and have fun at the same time by attending the First Annual South Shore Golf Classic in September and Night of Comedy in October.

There is still time for players and sponsors to sign-up for the First Annual South Shore Golf Classic on Friday, September 18. Registration begins at 10 a.m., followed by lunch and a 1 p.m. shotgun start. After a day on the course, there will be dinner and a 50/50 golf ball drop. There will be the usual contests including closest to the pin, longest drive and a hole-in-one contest. Contests, lunch, dinner, goodie bag, 3-day 2-night vacation, door prizes and beer are all included with golf. The cost is $100 for an individual or $375 for a foursome. For businesses, hole sponsorships are still available.

“We decided to do the golf tournament this year to reach different groups and spread the word about the festival,” said Founder Mike Self. “Also, we are fortunate that Clyde Jensen, who has put on many golf tournament fundraisers, offered to chair and help us raise funds.”

Everybody loves to laugh, so if golf is not your thing, support the South Shore Music Festival at Night of Comedy on Friday, October 16 at 6 p.m. at The Regent, 6437 Watson Rd. in Riverview. Hosted by South Shore’s Brian Kleinschmidt, special guests include Nathan Coe Marsh, Juanita Lolita and “SomeGuyNamed Frank.” The evening will include comedy, magic and illusion plus a silent auction, raffles, a lottery scratch off board and gift baskets. Advance tickets are $35 per person or $60 per couple. Tickets at the door are $40 for an individual and $70 for couples.

The South Shore Music Festival is known for its blend of soulful rock, country, music and blues and showcases talent of Florida. This year’s performers include Chase Bryant, Michael Miller Band, John King and Aubrey Wollett and others.
