FishHawk Family Eyecare provides professional and individualized eye care to the community, and has for the last nine years. Dr. Mary Lilly, graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, moved to the Bloomingdale area in 1998. Two years later, she began practicing optometry in Brandon.

In November of 2006, she started her own practice. As the owner and only optometrist at FishHawk Family Eyecare, Lilly is enthusiastic about her job and the patients she serves.

“Our clinic offers comprehensive eye exams as well as contact lens fitting and evaluations,” she explained. “I also medically diagnose and treat common eye conditions such as conjunctivitis, corneal abrasions, ocular allergies and removal of superficial foreign bodies from the eye.”

The independently owned and operated clinic also houses an Optical Department which offers eyeglasses and frames in the latest styles. Cindy, the licensed optician, is always available to help patients receive their new glasses. Complimentary adjustments are also offered.”

In its nine years of service, FishHawk Family Eyecare has consistently held a goal of developing professional and personal relationships with many families in the area. Lilly and her staff have enjoyed fostering these relationships and growing along with her patients.

“We are a small business that spends a great deal of time with each patient to insure their prescription is as accurate as possible,” Lilly said.

She also stresses the importance of using leftover flex dollars by the end of the year. Those who have Flexible Spending Accounts through their employer should act now, as money not spent by the year’s end will be lost.

Diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol can all affect eye health. Frequent or yearly exams help doctors detect any early signs of eye disease or blindness.

“Early detection is key to avert preventable blindness,” said Lilly. “I got my first pair of glasses at age 12. Since then, I have learned that our world is so much better when seen clearly. I strive to make sure all my patients are able to see as well as they are able, as long as possible.”
