The Outreach Clinic will host its 5th Annual Kentucky Derby Party, A Taste of The Derby, on Saturday, May 7 from 5-9 p.m. at The Palmetto Club in FishHawk Ranch located at 17004 Dorman Rd. in Lithia. Tickets are $75 per person. Attendees can sip on Mint Juleps and other refreshments, enjoy great food and have lots of fun. All proceeds will benefit the Outreach Clinic, the area’s only clinic providing free health care to the low income uninsured.

The Outreach Clinic’s 5th Annual Kentucky Derby Party is a fun and exciting event. Attendees will view a live stream of the race on a 25 ft. screen. Food and drink samplings will come from over 15 of the area’s most popular restaurants.

Executive Director of The Outreach Clinic Debbie Meegan said, “The Annual Kentucky Derby Party is a lot of fun. We live stream the Derby race, have food and drink, a silent auction, photo booth, race contests and lots of derby festivities. The ladies wear gorgeous hats and the gentlemen are ever so dapper. The event sold out last year. We are expecting an even earlier sell out this year, so get your tickets early.”

The Kentucky Derby Party is The Outreach Clinic’s biggest fundraiser. The clinic exists thanks to the generosity of individuals, local organizations and churches.

“With the help of our 250 plus volunteers and local community supporters, we are able to return over 2 million dollars in medical services every year to individuals in need of healthcare each year,” explained Meegan.

Despite advances with so many becoming insured through the Affordable Health Care Act, there are still thousands in Hillsborough County who cannot afford health insurance.

“We get calls every day from patients who are discharged from the hospital with immediate medical needs such as follow up visits, lab work and prescriptions. Our clinic is able to provide the immediate healthcare they need which helps prevent them from returning to the emergency room,” said Meegan. “Saving lives everyday- that is what we do, and we need the community’s help. You do not have to be a doctor to save a life. Anyone can be a part of The Outreach Clinic by supporting us.”

The Outreach Clinic is located at 517 N. Parsons Ave. in Brandon. For more information and to get tickets, call 654-1388 or visit www.theoutreachclinic.com.
