The Florida Hawks FC (FHFC) soccer club is kicking off its fall season by helping out those in need. The club, which offers recreational and competitive soccer teams, is hosting a community event at its FishHawk Sports Complex fields on Friday, September 8 offering fun for the community while collecting non-perishable items for Seeds of Hope.

The event, which is open to the entire community, will offer food trucks, games and bounce houses, raffles and music along with spirit wear and customization from Camden Elizabeth Boutique. Food trucks will include Mr C’s Grilled Cheese, Bay Street Burgers, Craving Donuts, Nico’s Arepas Grill and Cheesesteak Truck.

“Our Spring Kick Off was so much fun that we decided to kick off our fall season for both our competitive and recreational programs with a fun event for the entire community to enjoy,” said Club Admin Annette Collins. “We are also teaming up with Seeds of Hope to have people bring non-perishable items so we can help stock the pantry that feeds more than 100 families a week.”

Seeds of Hope, Inc., which is based in Lithia, distributes food to those in need through a mobile pantry, a weekly distribution and through the backpack of food program, coordinated with local schools. In addition, the food bank offers major food distributions to help families with children before long school breaks and includes distributions at back-to-school times and during seasonal weather changes.

“Programmatically, our focus is the development of kids in soccer, however, one of our core club philosophies is that we are also a public service organization,” said club Vice President, Mike Thomas. “Our participation in providing support for the Seeds of Hope program not only solidifies that philosophy but is an important reminder to our kids and parents that we all should look for ways to improve our community.”

FHFC offers competitive soccer for boys and girls from six to 18 years of age and recreational teams from four to 11 years of age. There are also adult recreational programs for players 19 and older.

Sign-ups are now underway for the fall recreational teams and some competitive teams have limited spots available. For more information to sign up, visit www.floridahawksfc.com or call 436-9377.

The Fall Kick Off event will take place at the new soccer fields at the FishHawk Sports Complex, located at 16112 FishHawk Blvd. from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, September 8.
