At times, standup comedy can be downright vulgar and rude. While some enjoy this type of comedy, others do not, but all can agree it is not family-friendly. That is why Michael Self and wife Stacy, the owners of S and S Tacos in Riverview, created Clean Comedy Night. The event is sponsored by Keller Williams-Ken Brownlee Real Estate Team and takes place on Friday, September 29 at The Regent from 6 to 9 p.m.

When asked why they started the Clean Comedy Night, Stacy said, “Years ago we decided to put God at the center of our life, and as a family, we struggled with places to go that were appropriate. We wanted to bring something to the community where families can go and have a good time.”

Families can come out to enjoy an evening of fun and laughs as the comedians take the stage. The local business owner of Anytime Fitness, Brian Kleinschmidt brings his talent as an emcee to the show with world-renewed comedian Kier as the headliner. Kier has entertained military troops and worked with celebrities such as Reba McEntire, Oprah Winfrey and Ronnie Milsap, to name a few. A highlight of his performance is the history of Rock Guitar Riffs where he impersonates famous rock stars like Sting, U2, Springsteen, Sinatra, Elvis, Barry White and many others.

The dinner is Italian cuisine from East Coast Pizza along with a variety of desserts donated from LeAnne’s Old Fashioned Cookies. A cash bar is also on site. Other community businesses such as the Family Time Entertainment of Florida, The Osprey Observer, and Summerfield Crossing Golf Club have stepped forward to sponsor the event.

The evening will also include a silent auction, raffle prizes, gift baskets, a 50-50 raffle and a chance to win a Lottery Scratch off Board. The proceeds will go to the Summerfield Club, which plans to purchase a Paragolfer, a unit that allows those who are paralyzed to play golf again.

Ticket prices include the show, dinner and a beverage. The cost is $30 for single ticket, $55 for a couple, and $275 for a table of eight, which must be purchased in advance. To purchase tickets for the 5th Annual Clean Comedy Night, visit
