Retro Prom Will Benefit Academic Foundation

A Retro Prom will take place on Friday, April 20 from 6:30-10:30 p.m. at the Barn at Winthrop in the Special Events Hall.

The Prom will benefit the Bloomingdale High School Academic Foundation which helps to enhance student instruction, to make sure students are limited only by teachers’ imaginations, not by lack of funding.

Tickets cost $35 each or $50 for a pair and are available at www.bloomingdaleacademics.org. The cost includes Outback dinner and drinks.

Shred360 And Hough Financial Services Offers Shredding Services To Support Teen Impact

Shred360 is offering shredding services to consumers to support Teen Impact. It will shred on-site on its mobile shred truck at Hough Financial Services, located at 1739 S. Kings Ave. in Brandon on Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m.-12 Noon.

In an effort to shred your sensitive documents in a timely manner, attendees may bring up to three boxes (copy paper box or smaller) or bags (kitchen trash bag or smaller) per vehicle. There is no need to remove or separate binders, clips, rubber bands, wire folders, CDs, or DVDs prior to shredding.

Monetary donations will be accepted. 100% of donations will go to Teen Impact, which promotes healthy lifestyles and relationships.

Parkinson’s Disease Support Group Held At The Bridges

The Bridges Assisted Living Community will host a support group for those diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, family members and caregivers. The support group will meet quarterly on the last Wednesday of the month beginning Wednesday, April 25. Guest speakers will present on a variety of topics such as mobility, balance, cognition, medication, and nutrition. The purpose of the support group is to share information, offer mutual support and gain additional information from area experts. There is no fee to attend. Please RSVP to Janet at 413-8900.

Advisor Introduces Tools To Make Informed Financial Decisions

On Tuesday, April 24 from 6:30-7:30 p.m., a licensed financial adviser will introduce tools for informed financial decisions making cash management strategies, and managing financial risk. This program is presented as part of Money Smart Week, a national public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage personal finances. Admission is free; no registration.

The program will take place at Bloomingdale Regional Public Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave. in Valrico

Imagination Day At Westfield Brandon

The 2018 Imagination Day will take place at Westfield Brandon on Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Bring the whole family out for a day packed with family-fun free activities and creativity. Imagination Day benefits We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym of Clearwater & Tampa. Entry, parking, and all activities are free and the first 100 Children will take home a Superhero Cape. There will be free activities & entertainment including multiple ‘Creation Stations’ like Dixie Bell Paint Company’s Rock Painting activity to our Official Discover Partner, MOSI’s Science Lab & a Mad Science feature. In addition, most Exhibitors will be offering a creative or educational activity at their booth.

Dance Parties will be hosted throughout the day featuring an introduction from a local dance studio, and they will be teaching a few simple dance moves.

Master Gardener Clinic On Pollinators

Wednesday, May 2, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., there will be a Master Gardener Clinic on Pollinators given by Master Gardener Nanette O’Hara at the Bloomingdale Library, located at 1906 Bloomingdale Ave. in Valrico. 

The clinic will inform you about, how, and what is a pollinator that moves pollen from the male flower to the female flower.

This free event is sponsored by the Hillsborough County Master Gardner Program of the Hillsborough County Extension, University of Florida, IFAS Extension.

Tampa YMCA Wants To Awaken Summer Imagination At Annual Healthy Kids Day® 

On Saturday, April 21, the community is invited to free Healthy Kids Day® events at 10 Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA locations. Kids will be inspired to keep their minds and bodies active at the annual YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day®, the Y’s national initiative to improve health and well-being for kids and families.

Healthy Kids Day is an opportunity to ignite children’s imaginations so that they can imagine what they’ll accomplish this summer. Enjoy fun games, healthy snacks, crafts and water activities to motivate and teach them how to develop and maintain healthy routines at home throughout the summer months.

Each participating YMCA has more information on the free activities and food offered during the Healthy Kids Day event, which will take place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at all locations, except for the Spurlino Y which is from 9 a.m.-12 Noon and the Northwest Y which is from 10a.m.-12 Noon.
