Saturday, April 14 will be a big day in Plant City for those who love trains and music. Two great events will take place that day at the Robert W. Willaford Railroad Museum located at 102 N. Palmer St. in historic downtown Plant City.

First up is Railfest 2018. This free event is perfect for the whole family. Railfest 2018 will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be free goody bags for children, great food featuring Bar B Que and hot dogs (free for children), and musical entertainment. There will also be a fantastic silent auction featuring railroad memorabilia.

Railfest 2018 is both a fundraiser for the Robert W. Willaford Railroad Museum and an event to raise awareness of the history of the railroad. The museum is a wonderful place to visit.

Presentation of the Fourth Annual Golden Spike along with the Little Golden Spike Award will be presented at Railfest 2018. The Golden Spike is awarded to an individual who has promoted and supported the community and the museum. The Little Golden Spike Award is given to an enthusiastic little rail fan.

Following Railfest 2018 will be the first ever Praise in the Park. This concert, featuring uplifting and inspiring music, will take place beginning at 3 p.m. at the Robert W. Willaford Railroad Museum. Praise in the Park is a free, inter-denominational Christian faith event featuring live music by local artists.

The artists who will be featured include Valley’s End at 3 p.m., Bound No More at 4 p.m., Ray & The Joshua Generation at 5 p.m., Make It ‘Til Morning at 6 p.m., First Baptist Plant City Praise Band at 7 p.m., and Dark Horse at 8 p.m. The Descendants will perform at 8:30 p.m. in the Krazy Kup Loft.

Proceeds from Praise in the Park will benefit the Plant City Pregnancy Center.

Praise in the Park is organized by Frank and Wenda Trunzo, owners of Krazy Kup coffee house located at 101 E. J Arden Mays Blvd. in Plant City.

Frank said, “Praise in the Park has been an event that I have wanted to coordinate for over four years. It has been a welcome challenge, and we are looking forward to a well-received day of uplifting spiritual fun that culminates in a financial gift to the pregnancy center.”
