A pet costume contest is part of Ruskin’s Annual PetFest coming up next month.

The Sixth Annual Ruskin PetFest, a day dedicated to our four-legged friends is scheduled for Saturday, April 2, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and promises to be an event the whole family will enjoy.

More than 2,000 pets and owners are expected to attend this free event which will feature food, live music and vendors along with a pet fashion contest, silly pet tricks contest and a pet-owner look-alike contest, plus children’s activities and an auction by C.A.R.E.

Proceeds from the event will support the C.A.R.E. organization. C.A.R.E. is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter in Ruskin.

Sponsors include the St. Petersburg Times, TECO, Canine Cabana, Give A Dog A Bone, Camp Bow Wow, Frosty Paws, Dog Gone Holistic and Ruskin Animal Hospital and Cat Clinic, among others.

The Ruskin PetFest will be held at Dr. Ott’s Off-Leash Dog Park, located off of S.R. 674 at 3rd Avenue SE and 21st Street SE in Ruskin. For more information and directions, visit www.tampabay.com/petfest.
