The team at Sunday’s Fine Dining in Ybor City welcome guests to try its always fresh menu and great historic atmosphere.

Typically, when company comes to town, there is only one Ybor restaurant on the radar, but with the one-year celebration of the new Sunday’s Fine Dining, an eclectic, high-ceiling, intimate restaurant just doors down from the Historic Columbia Restaurant and with convenient Ybor parking, Sunday’s is becoming another must-visit Ybor City destination.

Owned by Gina Sgambata and chef owner David Sunday, the couple opened the restaurant in January 2011. The spot, formerly a sushi restaurant, offers main floor and upstairs dining, an intimate bar with Seventh Ave. view and live music on weekends.

We decided to try something new one evening and were looking for something specifically with easy parking. We found it at Sunday’s on Seventh Ave. as a City parking lot is located directly behind the restaurant and offers free, lighted parking on weekends.

The walls are covered in local artwork that is for sale and a live Lobster tank is located right outside the kitchen.

One look at the menu puts this restaurant on the map. We started with the Lobster Flatbread and Grilled Caesar salad which included lightly grilled romaine, shaved Romano, crostini, with homemade Caesar dressing and was plenty for two to share. For entrees we had the Diver Sea Scallops andTruffle Butter and Filet Mignon with a stilton crustade.

Entrees range from $17-$29 with most in the $20-$24 range.

“The name Sunday’s comes from the chef & owner, David Sunday (yes, that’s his real name),” describes Sgambata. “We were working seasonally in New York and Tampa.” and the couple wanted to put down roots in Tampa. “The building once housed Sushi on 7th and now has a Manhattan-Greenwich Village feel.”

In addition to dinner, the restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and brunch. Brunch selections include custom omelets and frittattas, and Lemon Riccotta Pancakes made with citrus butter, maple syrup and served with toasted almonds and orange zest.

Sunday’s Fine Dining is located at 1919 E. 7th Ave, Ybor City. Call 248.4000 or visit www.sundaysfinedining.com.
