The Glazer Children’s Museum located in downtown Tampa has a new traveling exhibit called Team Up! Explore Science & Sports. The exhibit, which can be seen in the Telemundo Tampa Exhibit Hall, will be open from Saturday, February 2 until Tuesday, April 30.

According to the museum, the exhibit gives children of all ages an in depth look at the many scientific principles that are necessary in sports. Multiple interactive components allow visitors to test their skills in sports such as football, basketball, tennis, soccer and more.

Children can discover their pitching speed in a radar equipped booth, they learn about trajectory of angles by shooting a mini-basketball, and they can view cross sections of different balls and sports equipment to see what is inside. In other words, children learn about math and physics while playing.

“Team Up! Explore Science & Sports is a great way to get kids interested in science and math,” said Al Najjar, Museum President and CEO. “This exhibit helps kids understand math and science concepts by using sports and activities they already know and love,” explained Najjar.

The Glazer Children’s Museum strives to transform young children into life long learners and leaders. In keeping with this mission, the Glazer Children’s Museum will host an Education is Key Breakfast on Wednesday, March 13 from 8 to 9:30 a.m.  The breakfast will honor individuals who make a difference in education.

The public is invited to nominate people in two categories- Outstanding Student and Outstanding Teacher. Nomination forms can be found at www.glazermuseum.org/educationiskey and will accepted until February 18. The winners will receive two tickets to the breakfast, a $250 gift certificate and a commemorative plaque.

The Glazer Children’s Museum is located at 110 W. Gasparilla Plaza in downtown Tampa. Please visit www.glazermuseum.org.
