Eric Barber is a man of many talents. His intricate and fabulous artistic talents are on display in the gallery space at the Bruton Memorial Library located at 302 McLendon St. in Plant City. The exhibit is available for viewing during normal library operating hours now through the end of May.

The exhibit features over a dozen inspired works of art. Barber works in a variety of media including photography, acrylic, watercolor and charcoal. “I like to find things that inspire me,” said Barber.

Recently, Barber has taken on more photography. He explained that he used to take photos and then paint or draw from the photograph. Now, much of the focus of his art is photography. This multi-talented artist has also expressed his artistic talents by making jewelry and working as a goldsmith.

Ann Haywood, Library Director for Bruton Memorial Library said of Barber’s work, “His work is beautiful and very different from straight photography. He apparently takes photos and then manipulates the images with a program.” Haywood added, “I’m really pleased with the caliber artists that we have had this year at the library. Eric is no exception. His work is intriguing.”

Barber is a founder and president of The Art Lounge Gallery located at 119 E. Reynolds St. in Plant City. You can meet Barber and other Art Lounge Gallery artists at an After Dark event on Saturday, May 18 from 6 to 10 p.m. There will be live music and refreshments.

You can view Barber’s work at www.theartloungegallery.com or www.tericphotography.com For more information on the After Dark event at The Art Lounge Gallery or to meet up with Barber or any of the other artists at the gallery, please call 704-4872.
