On Saturday, September 14, the greater Brandon community will be treated to a day of art. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., residents can partake in the annual Gallery Hop. Then, beginning at 5:30 p.m. residents can gather at Center Place, located at 619 Vonderburg Dr. in Brandon for ARTworks 2013. This is a wonderful opportunity for residents to meet and mingle with some highly talented artists.

A part of the tradition of the annual Gallery Hop and ARTworks is the tradition of the silent auction of beautiful, one of a kind works of art lovingly created by members of the Brandon League of Fine Arts (BLFA).

Doreen Donovan, Fundraiser Chairman for BLFA said, “This year we have beautiful hand-painted flower pots. The theme is Flower Pots on Parade.” Donovan added, “The flower pots are designed and painted by members of BLFA. They all reflect the personality of the artist who created them, and they do not have to be used as flower pots! Some of them are candy dishes or candy jars. Some are painted with holiday themes, sea glass and beach shells. Some even act as a bird feeder/bird bath or hanging chimes. Each is painted with beautiful scenery around the flower pot. They are a must see!”

The flower pots are now available for viewing and bids can be place on them now. Simply visit Center Place during normal operating hours between now and Saturday, September 14. Final bids will be taken at 6 p.m. during the reception for ARTworks 2013.

Bonnie Phillips, President of BLFA said, “The silent auction of art is anĀ  annual fundraiser to benefit Center Place’s children’s art classes and to help BLFA raise money for the annual scholarship that is given to college bound high school senior.”

The Gallery Hop is free as is attendance at ARTworks 2013. For more information on the day’s events, please visit www.centerplacebrandon.org.
