Staff Report

Scrapbookers and craft lovers unite. The GFWC Brandon Junior Woman’s Club will be hosting its Seventh Annual Santa’s Crop for the Kids event on Saturday, September 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, located at 2913 John Moore Road, in Brandon.

The Brandon Junior Woman’s Club (BJWC) holds this annual fundraising event to raise money for their Children’s Holiday Party, which benefits nearly 100 children. Guidance counselors at 21 Brandon area elementary schools select the children, and many would not have a holiday at all without this program. The celebration includes a luncheon with entertainment, clothing, books and gifts for each child. The annual holiday party is made possible through nearly $3,000 raised from Crop for the Kids, as well as the donations of club members and area businesses.

“Crop for the Kids has become an area favorite among Brandon crafters, and is one of our biggest events at BJWC,” explained Becky Goble, board member and event chair. “It’s a day of fun that gets everyone focused on the upcoming holidays and provides an opportunity for fellowship with other scrapbookers for a great cause.”

Registration for Crop for the Kids is $40, and includes nine hours of crop time, breakfast, lunch snacks, raffle/door prizes, a goodie bag and make ‘n takes. There will also be a silent auction and craft vendors will be present during the daylong event. As an added incentive, participants are encouraged to bring in school supplies to earn extra raffle tickets. Registration will be held until Sunday, September 15, and participants are encouraged to sign up early, as space is limited.

Participants can register online via Paypal by visiting thebjwc.com/ticket. Registrations may also be mailed in by contacting Becky Goble at agob le@aol.com or 651-9333.

Donations for the event are also welcomed, and they do not have to be scrapbooking related.
